ABOUT
Sharon Hockenhull is a gardener and designer
with a passion for promoting the growing of fruit. Her love
for fruit has developed through her own experiences as a gardener
and through running her own plant-specialist garden maintenance
and design business for the last four years.

Sharon
offers a fresh approach to garden design, encouraging clients to use
their gardens more resourcefully by combining ornamental planting and
contemporary design with an abundance of fruit varieties. Fruit is surprisingly
easy to grow, requiring minimal maintenance, especially in comparison
to its counterpart the vegetable, which makes it ideal for people with
busy lifestyles who want to grow-their-own!
"The ease of growing fruit, its resilience and reliability,
its beauty and wonderfully flavoursome yields make fruit so rewarding
and essential for any garden...and a constant supply of your own garden-grown
fruit is just unbeatable!"
Sharon is also the founder of the Fruitshare
initiative, an internet-based project where people with surplus garden
fruit can share their harvests – a great way to minimise waste
and encourage local food sustainability. The project is non-profit making
and is currently being re-developed in partnership with Orange
Pippin, an online resource for apples and orchards run by Richard
Borrie.
